Outside Exploration

 During the last two weeks we have been learning many new rules and routines.  This includes how to safely explore our natural environment and learn from nature.  We have been searching for signs of fall, and in the pictures that follow we found objects and sorted them by colour.  We also took some time to work together and build forts and campfires.

Dear Parents,

We are so happy with how your children are settling into Kindergarten.  We are still working on our routines and transitions but each day we are getting quicker and requiring fewer reminders.  We enjoy seeing each smiling face and getting to know their personalities and interests.

We have a few reminders and upcoming events we would like to inform you about.

Reminders:

-          Please make sure your child brings his/her home/school folder back to school each day.

-          Please make sure your child is lining up along the outside wall when the bell rings to start school.

-          Full day Kindergarten starts on Monday, September 19^th.  Morning bell goes at 8:15 and pick up is 2:23pm (Mon-Thurs) and 2:00 (Fridays).  Please pack a snack and full lunch for your child.

-          Please send your child with Velcro shoes if you have not already.

Upcoming Events:

-          We will be starting The Sound Connection Program shortly and your child will be sent home with a duotang which will summarize the program.  Please keep this duotang at home and refer to it throughout the year as you practice the letter sounds with your child.

-          Students will be decorating a Treasure Box (pizza box) which will be sent home sometime next week.  Please use this as a place to store their work/art from their kindergarten year.

-          Library will start Wednesday, September 21.  Your child will get to choose a book to bring home for the week and please make sure your child returns their library book on the following Wednesday.

-          We have a Fire Hall Tour coming up on Wednesday, September 21 at 10:45.  We’ll only require 4-5 volunteers so please contact us if you’re interested.

-          Our Open House at Marysville Elementary is on September 29^th at 6:00pm.  We’ll be sending out more information as we get closer to this date.

-          School Photos are planned for October 7^th.
